Lights Out Thanks to Ike
Six days and counting.... We've had quite a week thanks to Hurricane Ike. Lights have been out since about midnight last Saturday. After riding out the storm, my husband and I packed up the studio and went to Dallas for a few days to try to get some work done. It's been tough and I thank all my clients for their patience while we wait for electricity to be restored. At least 60 percent of the city is still waiting for power. Crossing our fingers that everything will feel normal after this weekend but unfortunately restoration in our area is expected to take until at least Monday, Sept. 22nd. Lights or no lights, we are in for a busy weekend - 2 weddings and 2 portrait sessions! All in all we're thankful that we made it through safely and escaped any major damage. Our thoughts and prayers are with those that weren't as fortunate.

Travis & Jessica
I love shooting weddings for couples that are not only crazy about each other but who also put plenty of thought into personalizing their day. Travis and Jessica chose a perfect mix of venues for their Houston wedding and incorporated their style throughout. The ceremony was held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, which is a beautifully preserved building from the early 1900's. The location paired perfectly with their reception site, Rockefeller Hall, which is located in the Houston Heights. The night went by too fast; it was such a blast! Congratulations to the newlyweds!!

A Little More Enlightened
I just got back from gorgeous Colorado where I attended an awesome workshop by Zack Arias, who is a phenomenal artist and light guru based in Atlanta. One of the things I love most about my job is meeting people that not only share my crazy passion for photography, but also challenge and inspire me as an artist. I had a blast working out some new lighting techniques at the OneLight Workshop and getting to know some amazing people. The following shots are some of my favorites from the workshop.

Going on '09
I think it's official - 2008 is in fast-forward!! I'm definitely enjoying the ride though! It's been an amazing year - 45 weddings scheduled and counting! But most people are already looking ahead to next year, which makes '09 feel pretty close. I am dying to share some highlights of the past few months and some previews of what's to come.... Looking forward first, I'm excited to report that Morgan Lynn Photography is going international again with weddings lined up in Mexico and Costa Rica. I'll also be traveling to Venice this October for a workshop with one of the top wedding photographers in the world, Yervant. Exciting stuff! I've been a little closer to home for the first part of '08... I've been back and forth from Houston to Denver so much I'm in climate shock! I did make a stop in Oahu for a friend's destination wedding.... check out the website for a sneak peek at some of the gorgeous pictures we came back with!! I decided to post some recent bridals now that they are all married ladies! (These pictures are locked down until the big day) Even though we have to be a little more careful to keep the dress clean, bridal shoots are a great chance to get some dynamic images of the bride before the "rush" of the wedding day. The pictures we end up with show a lot of personality and make gorgeous display prints on the big day.... Congratulations Brittany, Kimberlee & Tania!!

I Trashed My Dress!
Time flies when you are a newlywed! Wedding season is in full swing for Morgan Lynn Photography but I wanted to take a second to share some memories from my own BIG DAY! I promised to post some pictures so I've included a mini sampling of our beautiful collection... My friend and fellow pro photographer, Steve Stanton, joined us in Costa Rica for our destination "I dos". He did an AMAZING job capturing our day!! YES, I even trashed my dress! We took our bridal attire out for one last run a few days after the wedding. It was a blast and the dress made it out unharmed... Beautiful pictures and I get to keep the dress! The wedding was a dream and for any couple that wants to steal away for an intimate beach wedding in paradise, put Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica at the top of your list!! Forty of our closest friends and family ran away with us to Buena Vista Villas & Casas. We owe a huge THANKS to our wonderful event planners, Tropical Occasions for their incredible work! Now if only we could do it all over again...
